Material:
Queen-sized blanket:
Approximately 1250-1500 yards of a super bulky yarn
This is an educated guess, I made mine out of leftover yarn
I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick
Color: Multi-colored
Size 15 {10mm} needles with 40″ {41cm} circular cable, but knit flat {back and forth}
Darning needle, or tool of choice to weave in ends

Baby blanket:
Approximately 300 yards of a super bulky yarn
I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick
Size 15 {10mm} needles with 40″ {41cm} circular cable, but knit flat {back and forth}
Darning needle, or tool of choice to weave in ends

Pattern, knit flat, back-and-forth:
CO 109 STS for a queen-sized blanket OR
CO 53 STS for a baby blanket

Row 1: *K1, P1* K1
Row 2: *P1, K1* P1
Row 3: *P1, K1* P1
Row 4: *K1, P1* K1
Repeat rows 1-4 until you’ve reached your desired length.
BO in pattern and weave in the ends.

I ended my queen sized blanket when it was 68” long. It hangs off a little on the end and I tuck it under my pillows. If you’d like it to fit over your pillows, you’ll want to make it longer.

Story:
This pattern was inspired by Molly Weasley’s blanket in Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone and my HUGE pile of left-over yarn.
If you’re looking for a way to use up your left-over yarn, then this is it!
Plus, it’s super easy, so you can knit it up while you binge watch all the Harry Potter movies ;)
That’s what I’d do any way… just sayin’.
Thrifty is the perfect definition for this blanket. Waste not want not.
I’m so glad I found a use for all my left-over yarn! ;)
{and it’s my husbands favorite blanket}
