DIY Muscle Relaxing Lotion

I’ve been having wrist pains.

Too much knitting… too much time on the computer. {sigh. who ever heard of such a thing?}
I received a reply from a recent newsletter recommending rubbing lavender oil on my wrist.

Oohhhh, I’m all about using natural remedies, and happened to have some on hand, so I’ve been using my own mix of oils to help with the pain.

I’m surprised at how much it has helped and thought I’d share my recipe!

Materials:

2 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
1 Tablespoon of Organic Coconut Oil

Directions:

I use a vintage Avon container or metal ramekin and place it on my glass top stove and set it to warm until it’s melted, for about 5-7 minutes.
You could place it in a toaster oven or in a pot with a little bit of water, as a double boiler to melt the oil.

Notes:

Coconut oil is already soft, so adding the lavender oil makes it softer.

It doesn’t take much lavender oil, a little goes a long way.

You can always add another drop or two of lavender oil if you’d like it to be stronger.

I found that I don’t need very much to reduce the pain, I use less than 1 teaspoon per application.

If you’d like it to solidify you can keep it in the fridge.

Because lavender is a natural sleep aid, I only apply this lotion at night before bed, otherwise I become drowsy, so I find it handy to keep a bottle on my nightstand :)
