{FREE} 3 Jersey Be Good Plant Cozy Knitting Patterns

All 3 of these patterns were knit using Wool and the Gang, Jersey Be Good Upcycled T-Shirt Yarn. I originally purchased this yarn to make a rug, but there was too much of a variance between each skein and sometimes even within the skein, so I’ve been trying to come up with a use for 1 skein projects to use this yarn and I think I found the perfect use. I love knitting these plant cozies! They’re the perfect instant gratification project :)

Seed Stitch Plant Cozy


About:

  • Time it took me to knit: 1-2 hours
  • Gauge: 9 sts = 4” {10cm}
  • Measurements, before sewing seam: 11” {28cm} wide x 4” {10cm} tall

Material:

  • 3 1/2” square planter pot {I used the plastic pot I purchased it in.}
  • Approximately 30 yards of a super bulky T-Shirt yarn
  • I used Jersey Be Good Upcycled T-Shirt Yarn by Wool and the Gang
  • Size 15 {10mm} knitting needles
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors

Pattern, knit flat, back and forth:

  • CO 9 STS {or any odd number}
  • Row 1: WYIF S1PW *P1, K1* P1, WYIF S1PW
  • Row 2: K1TBL *P1, K1* P1, K1TBL
  • Repeat rows 1-2 until it measures 10” or desired length. I knit mine until it was about 2-3” too small and I stretched it to make it fit. I wanted the stitches to be further apart.

    Tip: Place a stitch marker on the Odd side, so you know which side to slip sts and which side to knit :) {It doesn’t matter which side you put the stitch marker on as long as your consistent with which side you knit and which side you slip the first stitch.}

    BO on an even row: K1TBL *P1, K1* P1, K1TBL


Sew the Seam:

  • Sew the CO & BO edges together to create the circumference.
  • I seamed it together while it was wrapped around the planter instead of seaming it and then trying to slip it on the planter.


Garter Stitch Plant Cozy


About:

  • Time it took me to knit: 1-2 hours
  • Gauge: 8 sts = 3 1/2” {10cm}
  • Measurements, before sewing seam: 9 3/4” {25cm} wide x 3 1/2” {9cm} tall

Material:

  • 3 1/2” round planter pot {I used the plastic pot I purchased it in.}
  • Approximately 30 yards of a super bulky T-Shirt yarn
  • I used Jersey Be Good Upcycled T-Shirt Yarn by Wool and the Gang
  • Size 15 {10mm} knitting needles
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors

Pattern, knit flat, back and forth:

  • CO 8 STS {or any even number}
  • Row 1: WYIF S1PW, k6, WYIF S1PW
  • Row 2: K1TBL, k6, K1TBL
  • Repeat rows 1-2 until it measures 9 3/4” or desired length. I knit mine until it was about 1/4” too small and I stretched it to make it fit. I wanted the stitches to be further apart.

  • Gauge: 8 sts = 3 1/2” {10cm}
  • Measurements, before sewing seam: 10” {26cm} wide x 3 1/2” {9cm} tall

Material:

  • 3 1/2” round planter pot {I used the plastic pot I purchased it in.}
  • Approximately 30 yards of a super bulky T-Shirt yarn
  • I used Jersey Be Good Upcycled T-Shirt Yarn by Wool and the Gang
  • Size 15 {10mm} knitting needles
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors

Pattern, knit flat, back and forth:

  • CO 8 STS {or any even number}
  • Row 1: WYIF S1PW, P6, WYIF S1PW
  • Row 2: K1TBL, k6, K1TBL
  • Repeat rows 1-2 until it measures 10” or desired length. I knit mine until the CO and BO edges touched when I put it around the planter.

    Tip: Place a stitch marker on the Odd side, so you know which side to slip sts and which side to knit :) {It doesn’t matter which side you put the stitch marker on as long as your consistent with which side you knit and which side you slip the first stitch.}

    BO in all knit STS on an even row.


Sew the Seam:

  • Sew the CO & BO edges together to create the circumference.
  • I seamed it together while it was off the planter and then slipped it on the planter.
