Knitting up fall pumpkin decorations is a fun way to use up some left-over yarn! I knit up a few of these because every yarn is unique and gives the pumpkin a slightly different style. Which one’s your favorite?

Materials for the White Pumpkin, 8 Stripes:

Details:

  • Gauge: This varies depending on yarn and size, you don’t want the sts too loose, so the stuffing doesn’t show.

Notes:

  • Knit bottom up.
  • Knit wrong-side-out.
  • You can use any weight of yarn, the thinner the yarn, the smaller the pumpkin.

Pattern, Knit In The Round:

  • 5 Stripes: CO 25 STS, PM, join in the round
  • 6 Stripes: CO 30 STS, PM, join in the round
  • 7 Stripes: CO 35 STS, PM, join in the round
  • 8 Stripes: CO 40 STS, PM, join in the round

  • Rows 1 – 20: *K4, P1* {make it larger by knitting more rows}

  • Decrease for the Top:
  • Row 21: *K2, K2TOG, P1*
  • Row 22: *K1, K2TOG, P1*
  • Row 23: *K2TOG, P1*

  • Turn right-side out, do not bind-off, leave a long tail, about 10″, and pull it through the remaining STS, fill with your filling of choice, pull tight and then weave in the ends.

Abbreviations:

  • * – * – repeat between * to end of round
  • BO – bind-off in pattern
  • CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}
  • K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
  • K2TOG – knit 2 stitches together
  • P – purl stitches {P2 means to purl 2 stitches}
  • PM – place marker
  • STS – stitches
