What’s a blanket scarf? It’s an oversized scarf that you can snuggle up in. You could drape it over your shoulders like a shawl or wrap it around your neck and tuck the ends under to wear it like a cowl.

  • Yardage: 410 – 420 yards {375 – 384 meters}
  • Suggested Yarn: Bernat Pipsqueak
  • Needle Size: US 10 {6mm} Circular Needles with a 24″ {60cm} Cable


  • Measurements: 70 1/2″ length x 17 1/2″ width {180cm x 45cm}
  • Gauge: 10 1/4 sts & 20 rows per 4” {10cm} square {knit flat in the pattern below}
  • Weight: 14.4oz {410g}


  • Reversible
  • CO edge is the width.
  • Knit using the Garter Stitch.
  • Knit flat, back & forth on circular needles. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of CO stitches.

Pattern, Knit Flat {Back & Forth}:

  • CO 45 STS {I used the long-tail-cast-on method, which is a little tight. I’d recommend a stretchier CO method.}
  • Row 1: WYIF S1PW, K43, WYIF S1PW
  • All other rows: K1TBL, K43, WYIF S1PW
  • When it’s reached your desired length BO in the K1, P1 pattern, or stretchy BO method of your choice.
  • Weave in ends.
  • No blocking required.


  • * – * – repeat between * to end of round
  • BO – bind-off in pattern
  • CO – cast-on
  • K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
  • K1TBL – knit 1 stitch through the back loop
  • S1PW – slip one stitch purl-wise
  • STS – stitches
  • WYIF – with yarn in front
