Materials

  • Any Yarn

Instructions

Knit flat using straight needles:

  • CO 28 STS or CO in multiples of 12 stitches, plus 4
  • Row 1 (RS): P4 *K2, P4*
  • Row 2 (WS): *K4, P2* K4*
  • Row 3 (RS): P4 *K2, P4*
  • Row 4 (WS): *K4, P2* K4
  • Row 5 (RS): P4 *K2, P4*
  • Row 6 (WS): *K4, YFWD, S2PW, YBK* K4
  • Row 7 (RS): P4 *S2F, P2, YO, K2TOG TBL from the cable, S2B, K2TOG, YO, P2 from cable, P4*
  • Row 8 (WS): *K4, P2, K1TBL, P2, K1TBL, P2* K4
  • Repeat rows 1-8 until desired length

Abbreviations

  • *– * – repeat between *asterisks* to the end of the round
  • CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
  • K – knit stitches (example: K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
  • K1TBL – knit through the back loop
  • K2TOG – knit 2 stitches together
  • K2TOG TBL – knit 2 stitches together through the back loops
  • P – purl stitches (example: P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
  • S2B – slip 2 stitches onto a cable needle, holding the stitches in back
  • S2F – slip 2 stitches onto a cable needle, holding the stitches in front
  • S2PW – slip 2 stitches purl-wise
  • YBK – with the yarn in back
  • YFWD – with the yarn in front
  • YO – yarn over
