Materials

  • Any Yarn

Instructions

Knit flat using straight needles:

  • CO 17 STS
  • Row 1 (WS): K2 [P1, K3 x3] P1, K2
  • Row 2 (RS): P1, [K3, P1 x3] K3, P1
  • Row 3 (WS): K2 [P1, K3 x3] P1, K2
  • Row 4 (RS): P1, [K3, P1 x3] K3, P1
  • Row 5 (WS): K2 [P1, K3 x3] P1, K2
  • Row 6 (RS): P1, 3/1/3 RPC, P1, 3/1/3 LPC, P1
  • Row 7 (WS): K2 [P1, K3 x3] P1, K2
  • Row 8 (RS): P1, [K3, P1 x3] K3, P1
  • Repeat rows 1 – 8 until desired length.

Abbreviations : Knitting Techniques

  • * – * – repeat between *asterisks* to the end of the round
  • 3/1/3 RPC – 3 over 1 over 3 right purl cross – slip 4 stitches to a cable needle, hold it to the back of your work, knit 3 stitches, slip the last stitch from the cable needle back onto the left-hand needle, purl 1, and then knit 3 from the cable needle
  • 3/1/3 LPC – 3 over 1 over 3 left purl cross – slip 4 stitches to a cable needle, hold it to the front of your work, knit 3 stitches, slip the last stitch from the cable needle back onto the left-hand needle, purl 1, and then knit 3 from the cable needle
  • BO – bind-off in pattern
  • CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
  • K – knit stitches (K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
  • K1TBL – knit 1 stitch through the back loop
  • P – purl stitches (P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
  • RS – right side of the work
  • S1PW – slip one stitch purl-wise
  • STS – stitches
  • WS – wrong side of the work
  • WYIF – with yarn in front
