The Wavy Bobble Cable Knit Stitch is a 12 row repeat. There’s a twist on every right side row with the bobble on a couple of wrong side rows.

Materials

  • Any Yarn

Instructions

Knit flat using straight needles:

  • CO 11 STS
  • Row 0 (WS): K3, P5, K3
  • Row 1 (RS): P5, T3B, P3 (cable row)
  • Row 2 (WS): K3, P3, K5
  • Row 3 (RS): P4, T3B, P4 (cable row)
  • Row 4 (WS): K5, P2, K4
  • Row 5 (RS): P3, T3B, P5 (cable row)
  • Row 6 (WS): K5, MB, P2, K3 (bobble row)
  • Row 7 (RS): P3, T3F, P5 (cable row)
  • Row 8 (WS): K5, P3, K3
  • Row 9 (RS): P4, T3F, P4 (cable row)
  • Row 10 (WS): K4, P2, K5
  • Row 11 (RS): P5, T3F, P3 (cable row)
  • Row 12 (WS): K3, P2, K1, MB, K4 (bobble row)
  • Repeat rows 1 – 12 until desired length.

Abbreviations : Knitting Techniques

  • * – * – repeat between *asterisks* to the end of the round
  • BO – bind-off in pattern
  • CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
  • K – knit stitches (K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
  • K1TBL – knit 1 stitch through the back loop
  • MB – make bobble – knit into the front, back and then front of the next stitch, [turn and knit those 3 stitches] 3 times and then turn and SK2PO, completing the bobble
  • P – purl stitches (P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
  • RS – right side of work
  • S1PW – slip one stitch purl-wise
  • SK2PO – slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 2 stitches together, pass the slipped stitch over the 2 stitches knitted together, decreasing 2 stitches
  • STS – stitches
  • T3B – twist 3 back – slip 1 stitch onto cable needle and hold it in the back of your work, knit the next 2 STS off your left hand needle and then purl the stitch off your cable needle
  • T3F – twist 3 front – slip 2 STS onto cable needle and hold it in the front of your work, purl the next stitch off your left hand needle and then knit the 2 STS off your cable needle
  • WS – wrong side of work
  • WS – wrong side of work
