  • Darning Needle
  • Scissors

Materials

  • Any Yarn

Instructions

  • CO 17 STS
  • Row 1: *K5, YO, K2TOG, K1* K1
  • Row 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12: *P*
  • Row 3: *K3, K2TOG TBL, YO, K1, YO, K2TOG* K1
  • Row 5: K1 *K1, K2TOG TBL, YO, K3, YO, K2TOG*
  • Row 7: *YO, K2TOG TBL, return stitch to left needle, pass next stitch over it and put the stitch back on the right needle, YO, K5* K1
  • Row 9: *K1, KFB, K6* K1 (increase 1 stitch per repeat)
  • Row 11: *K2TOG, K4, YO, K2TOG, K1* K1 (decrease 1 stitch per repeat, so you’re back to your original number of STS you CO.)
  • Repeat Rows 3 – 12 until desired length

Abbreviations

  • *– * – repeat between asterisks
  • CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
  • K – knit stitches (example: K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
  • K2TOG – knit 2 stitches together
  • K2TOG TBL – knit 2 together, through the back loop
  • KFB – knit the stitch, before slipping off, knit another stitch into the back of the same stitch, slip to right needle
  • P2TOG – purl 2 together
  • P – purl stitches (example: P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
  • STS – stitches
  • YO – yarn over
