Twisted Eyelet Cable Stitch Swatch Instructions (Download)

This Twisted Eyelet cable stitch consists of 2 cable stitches using 3 stitches each. On one row you’ll create a decrease cable stitch in between 2 lace stitches create eyelets. A few rows later you’ll create 2 cables that lean into each other with a couple of stitches in between. A couple more rows later you’ll create 2 more cables that lean into each other without a space in between bringing the cable to a point.

Instructions

Knit flat using straight needles:

  • CO in increments of 9+1
  • CO 10 STS
  • Row 1 (WS): *K1, P8* K1
  • Row 2 (RS): P1 *K8, P1*
  • Row 3 (WS): *K1, P8* K1
  • Row 4 (RS): P1 *K2, YO, C4TOGF, YO, K2, P1* (cable row)
  • Row 5 (WS): *K1, P8* K1
  • Row 6 (RS): P1 *K8, P1*
  • Row 7 (WS): *K1, P8* K1
  • Row 8 (RS): P1 *C3F, K2, C3B, P1* (cable row)
  • Row 9 (WS): *K1, P8* K1
  • Row 10 (RS): P1 *K1, C3F, C3B, K1, P1* (cable row)
  • Repeat rows 1 – 10 until desired length.

Abbreviations : Knitting Techniques

  • * – * – repeat between *asterisks* to the end of the round
  • BO – bind-off in pattern
  • CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
  • C3B – cable 3 back – slip 1 stitch to a cable needle and hold it in the back of your work, knit 2 stitches off the left hand needle and then knit the 1 stitch off the cable needle
  • C3F – cable 3 front – slip 2 stitches to a cable needle and hold it in the front of your work, knit 1 stitch off the left hand needle and then knit the 2 stitches off the cable needle
  • C4TOGF – cable 4 together front – slip 2 stitches to a cable needle and hold it in the front of your work, K2TOG from the left hand needle and then K2TOG from the cable needle (This isn’t a standard knitting abbreviation, I made it up to make the pattern easier to read.)
  • K – knit stitches (K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
  • K1TBL – knit 1 stitch through the back loop
  • P – purl stitches (P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
  • RS – right side of work
  • S1PW – slip one stitch purl-wise
  • STS – stitches
  • WS – wrong side of work
  • WYIF – with yarn in front
