Welcome to Day 8 of the 21 Days of Cable Knit Stitches Series!
Previous -> Day 7: Medallion Cable Knit Stitch
Next -> Day 9: Wavy Bobble Cable Knitting Stitch Pattern
Today is going to be a productive day! We’ll be learning 3 new stitches and it’s a little lacy. This stitch reminds me of a knitted owl with the eyelets being the eyes.

About the Stitch
The Twisted Eyelet cable stitch is a 10 row repeat, consisting of 2 simple cables, a decrease cable and a lace stitch.
Even though this cable stitch requires your full attention, it’s easier than it looks!
If you’re knitting a stockinette stitch scarf or blanket and you’d like to add this cable pattern, having a few reverse stockinette stiches on either side of your cable will give it more definition, so it “pops.”
This Twisted Eyelet cable stitch consists of 2 cable stitches using 3 stitches each. On one row you’ll create a decrease cable stitch in between 2 lace stitches create eyelets. A few rows later you’ll create 2 cables that lean into each other with a couple of stitches in between. A couple more rows later you’ll create 2 more cables that lean into each other without a space in between bringing the cable to a point.
On row 4 you’ll increase 2 stitches and decrease 2 stitches, so you’ll have the same number of stitches at the end of the row that you had when you started. None of the other rows have increases or decreases, so you should always have the same number of stitches on the needles.
This is not a reversible pattern, meaning that the front and back are not the same.

Headband Notes
The CO edge is the width.
I like using circular knitting needles or DPN’s for a small swatch, it’s easier on my hands than full length straight needles.
You can use any category of yarn you’d like, just keep in mind that the thinner the yarn, the narrower your headband.
