Welcome to Day 11 of the 21 Days of Lace Knit Stitches Series!
This stitch uses left-leaning & right-leaning decreases to create the “chevron” look and YO’s to add some lace. Did I mention that this is just a 2 row repeat, making this a great stitch for a travel project.
Materials:
Size US 11 {8mm} Knitting Needles
Yarn: Lana Grande by Cascade Yarns
Video Tutorial:
Pattern, Knit Flat:
CO in multiples of 9+1 STS
For my swatch I CO 19 STS
Row 1 {RS}: *K1, YO, K2, K2TOG, SKP, K2, YO* K1
Row 2 {WS}: *P*
Repeat rows 1-2 until desired length.
Modification:
Add a little texture by making row 2 all knit stitches, plus I would use a size US 13 needle to make it more relaxed and squishier and now it’s reversible. :)
Tip:
Row 1 increases 2 STS per repeat
Row 3 decreases 2 STS per repeat
Whether you K or P on row 2, this stitch lays nice and flat, so you don’t have to worry about curling.
I’m very happy with the outcome and I’d probably skip blocking it. I think it looks great just the way it is, but that’s my personal preference, to each their own :)
Increase and decrease on the same row, so the stitch count is the same on all rows.
I think this would make a great reversible scarf or blanket, plus I love the natural scalloped border.
