Day 7 : Popcorn Lace Knit Stitch : #21daysoflaceknitstitches

Welcome to Day 7 of the 21 Days of Lace Knit Stitches Series! Learn how to knit this popcorn {baby bobble} lace knit stitch in the video tutorial below. This is a bit more of an advanced lace knit stitch. You only use 5 different stitches, and most of them we haven’t seen yet in this series.
I’d call this more of an airy stitch, rather than a lacy stitch. It has the ever so popular baby bobble stitches, which I see just about everywhere online and in person. Being so popular, I had to share this one!

Materials:

  • Size US 13 {9mm} Knitting Needles
  • Yarn: Lana Grande by Cascade Yarns

Video Tutorial:

Pattern, Knit Flat:

  • CO in multiples of 4 STS
  • For my swatch I CO 16 STS
  • Row 1 {RS}: *P*
  • Row 2 {WS}: *KPK, S1KW, K2TOG, PSSO*
  • Row 3 {RS}: *P*
  • Row 4 {WS}: *S1KW, K2TOG, PSSO, KPK*
  • Repeat rows 1-4 until desired length.

Tip:

It took me a few tries to figure out what size of needles I wanted to use to achieve the look I wanted. I knitted a few swatches and determined that I liked a slightly loose stitch. It was neither too loose nor too tight, but somewhere just right in the middle, kinda like Goldilocks. I definitely recommend playing with this one before giving up on it. It’s one of my favorites, so far.
It curls a little bit on the edges, but not much. I think it would help to have a border around it to give it a little more structure.
It would probably benefit from being blocked too.
