Circle Coaster Knitting Pattern, FREE

Alright, so I went a little crazy trying to figure out the perfect “circle” coaster.
I want to share them all with you, just in case you want to take this crazy train too ;)
Note: I didn’t block any of these coasters, but I think a light blocking would help them lay a little flatter.
This mustard “coaster” is the one that started my desire to find the perfect knitted circle. I was testing different ways to decrease stitches on a seed stitch hat and the test came out as a circle. It was super cute, so I had to use it for something and it just happened to be the perfect size for a coaster :)
Here’s the pattern for the mustard colored coaster:
Size: 5 1/2″ wide
Using size 11 {8mm} needles with 16″ {41cm} circular cable,
or DPN’s or a longer cable to knit in the magic loop method.
CO 43 STS, PM, join in the round.
Round 1: *P1, K1* P1
Round 2: *K1, P1, K1, P1, K2TOG, P1, K1, P1, K2TOG* {3 times} last 10 STS K1, P1, K1, P1, K2TOG, P1, K1, P1, K1 {36 STS remaining}
Round 3: *P1, K1, P1, K2TOG, K1, P1, K2TOG* {28 STS remaining}

Round 5: *K1, K2TOG, K2TOG* {12 STS remaining}
Round 6: *K2TOG* {6 STS remaining}
Don’t bind-off. Cut the yarn leaving a 6″ tail, thread it on a darning needle and then pull through the remaining STS, pull tight, push it through the center into the inside and weave in the ends.
Weave in the beginning tail too.

This is one of my favorites too.
It’s the smallest one and has the potential to become a flower ;)
