If you know the difference between a knit stitch & a purl stitch, then you might just be ready to give this stitch a try.

This stitch only uses knit & purl stitches.

CO 17 STS
Row 1 {WS}: *P*
Row 2 {RS}: P1 *K7, P1*
Row 3 {WS}: *P*
Row 4 {RS}: P2 *K5, P3* K5, P2
Row 5 {WS}: *P*
Row 6 {RS}: P3 *K3, P5* K3, P3
Row 7 {WS}: *P*
Row 8 {RS}: P4 *K1, P7* K1, P4
Row 9 {WS}: *P*
Row 10 {RS}: K4 *P1, K7* P1, K4
Row 11 {WS}: *P*
Row 12 {RS}: K3 *P3, K5* P3, K3
Row 13 {WS}: *P*
Row 14 {RS}: K2 *P5, K3* P5, K2

Abbreviations:

BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}
K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
