Techniques:

  • Suggested Yarn: Lion Brand Heartland
  • Needle Size: US 9 {5.5mm} Circular Needles with a 32”+ {80cm} Cable, or DPNs

Details:

  • Measurements, After Seaming: 4 1/2′′ Height x 8 3/4′′ {11cm x 22cm}
  • Gauge: 18 STS & 20 rows per 4” {10cm} square, knit in the pattern below
  • Weight: 1.8oz {55g}

Notes:

  • Not reversible.
  • The CO edge is the height, folded in half.
  • Knit using the stockinette stitch.
  • Knit in the round with a circular needle.
  • When knitting in the round you’re always knitting the right side of your work.
  • You’re knitting a tube, double thickness, and then seaming the CO and BO edges together.

Pattern, Knit in the Round in the Magic Loop Method:

  • CO 40 STS, split 20 STS on each needle, join in the round.
  • Knit all rounds until desired length.
  • BO in all knit STS.
  • Sew the CO & BO edges together using the mattress stitch.

  • I made mine 18” {46cm} long. My head is 21 1/2” {55cm}.
  • It fits a little snug, but loosens up after a few wears.

  • End:
  • Sew CO & BO edge together.
  • Weave in the ends.
  • No blocking necessary.

  • Notes to knit flat:
  • If you’re not a fan of the magic loop method. You can knit this flat.
  • CO the same number of STS, knit in StSt for desired length.
  • End on a WS row, BO in all Knit STS.
  • Sew the CO & BO edges together.
  • Fold the edges together and sew.
  • Weave in the ends.

Abbreviations:

  • * – * – repeat between *
  • BO – bind-off in pattern
  • CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}
  • K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
  • STS – stitches
  • StSt – {stockinette stitch} knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side
