Pattern, Knit in the Round:

CO 39 {Baby}, 45 {XS}, 54 {S}, 63 {M}, 75 {L} {see size chart above} PM, join in the round

Rounds 1-40: *P2, K1* about 9″ or desired length.

Decrease for the Crown {switch to a longer cable to knit in the magic loop method}:

Round 1: *P2, K1, P2TOG, K1* P2, K1

Round 2: *P2TOG, K1, P1, K1* P2TOG, K1

Round 3: *P1, K1*

Round 4: *K2TOG, P1, K1* K2TOG

Round 5: *K2TOG, K2* K2TOG, K1

Round 6: *K2TOG, K1* K2TOG

Round 7: *K2TOG* K1

Without binding-off, cut the yarn leaving a 10” {25cm} tail, pull it through the remaining STS, push through the top hole to the inside and then weave in the ends.

Block {optional, I didn’t block mine in the photo}:

To block this hat, use a saucer. Like a teacup and saucer. ;) Put it inside the hat, so the bottom “swirl” is in the center of the saucer and the saucer is bulging outward, spritz it with some water, pat dry with a clean towel and let it dry overnight.

* – * – repeat between *

BO – bind-off in pattern

CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}

K – knit stitch {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}

K2TOG – knit 2 stitches together

P – purl stitch {P2 means to purl 2 stitches}

PM – place marker

STS – stitches
