Needle Size: US 10 {6mm} Circular Needles with a 32” {80cm} Cable

 

Details:

Gauge {before stretched out}: 20 STS & 19 rounds per 4” {10cm} square, knit in rib stitch
Gauge {after stretched out}: 21 STS & 13 rounds per 4” {10cm} square, knit in rib stitch
Weight: 9.9oz {280g}

 

Notes:

Reversible.
Knit using the rib stitch.
Knit lengthwise top down / bottom up.
Knit flat, back & forth on circular needles, which are used to accommodate the large number of CO stitches.

Scarf measures 27″ diameter x 11 1/2″ {68cm x 29cm}, after being stretched out to wear.
Model is 5’9″/175cm, 130lbs wearing a 52″ width scarf.

 

Pattern, Knit in the Round:

CO 200 STS, PM, join in the round.

Round 1: *K1, P1*

Repeat 1, until it measures 12″ {30cm}, or desired height.

BO in the K1, P1 pattern.

Weave in the ends.

Steam-block lightly, optional.

 

Pattern, Knit Flat {Back & Forth}:

CO 200 STS

Row 1: *K1, P1*

Repeat 1, until it measures 12″ {30cm}, or desired height.

BO in the K1, P1 pattern.

Sew the CO & BO edges together.

You can use a mattress stitch, which will give you an invisible seam, but the seam is a little bulky on the inside, or you can use a whip stitch, which is a visible seam, but isn’t bulky.

Weave in the ends.

Steam-block lightly, optional.

BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}
K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
P – purl stitches {P2 means to purl 2 stitches}
