S/M : 13-15″ {30 – 38cm} Calf Circumference {90 – 100 yards} {83 – 92 meters}
M/L : 15-17″ {38 – 43cm} Calf Circumference {150 – 160 yards} {137 – 146 meters}

Measurements: 3 1/2″ x 7″ {10cm x 18cm}
Gauge: 18 STS & 18 rounds per 3″ {8cm} square, knit in the pattern below

Notes:

Not reversible.
Knit bottom up, however you can wear them either way.
Knit using the cable knit stitch.
Knit in the round with a circular needle.
When knitting in the round you’re always knitting the right side of your work.
If you don’t have a 9″ cable, you can use a 24″ cable, or longer and knit using the magic loop method.

CO 44, PM, join in the round

Rounds 1-5: *K2, P2*

Rounds 6: *P2, K1, P2, K6*

Rounds 7-11: *P2, K1, P2, K6*

Round 12: *P2, K1, P2, C6F*

Repeat rounds 6-12, 3 more times

Rounds 31-33: *P2, K1, P2, K6*

Rounds 34-37: *K2, P2*

Round 38: BO in the K2, P2 pattern

Weave in the ends.

Block, if desired.

Knit the second the same as the first.

 

M/L Pattern, Knit in the Round:

CO 56, PM, join in the round

Rounds 1-4: *K2, P2*

Round 5: *K2, P2* K2, P2TOG {-1 ST = 55 STS}

Rounds 6: *P2, K1, P2, K6*

Rounds 7-11: *P2, K1, P2, K6*

Round 12: *P2, K1, P2, C6F*

Repeat rounds 6-12, 3 more times

Round 31: *K2, P2* K2, P1, INC1 {+1 ST = 56 STS}

Rounds 32-33: *P2, K1, P2, K6*

Rounds 34-37: *K2, P2*

Round 38: BO in the K2, P2 pattern

Abbreviations:

* – * – repeat between *
BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}
C6F – cable6front {Transfer 3 stitches to a cable needle and hold it in the front of your work, knit the next 3 stitches and then knit the 3 stitches off the cable needle}
INC1 – make 1 stitch {I use a backwards loop}
K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
KITR – knit in the round
P – purl stitches {P2 means to purl 2 stitches}
P2TOG – purl 2 stitches together
PM – place marker
S1PW – slip one stitch purl-wise
ST – stitch
STS – stitches
