Notes

Not reversible.
Knit from end to end.
The cast-on edge is the width.
Knit using the rib & stockinette stitch.
2 patterns are available. You can knit this flat or knit it in the round.
This is a tube scarf, knit in the round with a circular needle.
When knitting in the round you’re always knitting the right side of your work.

Modification Options

To make a wider tube, cast-on more stitches.
To make it longer, knit more rows/rounds.
To make it shorter, knit fewer rows/rounds.

Knitting Abbreviations

*– * – repeat between * to end of round
BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
K – knit stitches (K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
P – purl stitches (P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
PM – place marker
STS – stitches

Pattern Instructions, Knit Flat:

CO 48 STS

Beginning Ribbing:

Row 1, 3, 5 (WS): *K2, P2* 

Row 2, 4, 6 (RS): *P2, K2*

Rows 1-6 measures approximately 1 1/4″ (3cm) from the beginning

Body Stockinette Stitch:

Row 1 (WS): *P* (purl all stitches) 

Row 2 (RS): *K* (knit all stitches)

Repeat rows 1-2 for 74″ (188cm), or until desired length minus 1 1/4″ (3cm)

Ending Ribbing:

Row 1, 3, 5 (WS): *K2, P2* 

Row 2, 4 (RS): *P2, K2*

Row 6: BO in the *K2, P2* pattern

Seam the edges together to create the tube.

Weave in the ends.

No blocking necessary.

Pattern Instructions, Knit in the Round:

CO 48 STS, PM, join in the round

Rounds 1-6: *K2, P2* (approximately 1 1/4″ (3cm) or desired ribbing length

Knit all rounds until desired length minus 1 1/4″ (3cm)

Last 5 rounds *K2, P2* or desired ribbing length

BO in the *K2, P2* pattern

Weave in the ends.

No blocking necessary.
