Simple Lace Diamonds Knitting Stitch Pattern

Swatch of the Simple Diamonds Lace Knit StitchPin

Welcome to Day 12 of the 21 Days of Lace Knit Stitches Series!

Watch the video tutorial below to learn how to knit this lace stitch. I’m just going to state for the record, that “simple” is a relative term. I thought that because it has simple in the title that it would be an easy stitch, I beg to differ. I had a hard time with it. Maybe I was just having an off day, I don’t know, but I know it took me awhile to see it all come together. I hope I can save you some trouble, so you can watch it all come together before getting started. :)

I would consider this to be an advanced lace knit stitch. It has increases and decreases to create lacy diamonds. I had to really pay attention when I was knitting this swatch. One little mistake and I had to rip back 2 rows, because I usually didn’t notice until I was on the next right-side row. If you happen to make a mistake, you’ll know what I’m talking about. :) Despite all the difficulty I had, I think it’s a beautiful stitch!

Materials:

Size US 13 {9mm} Knitting Needles
Yarn: Lana Grande by Cascade Yarns

Video Tutorial:

Pattern, Knit Flat:

CO in multiples of 6+1 STS
For my swatch I CO 9 STS

Row 1 {RS}: K1 *YO, SKP, K1, K2TOG, YO, K1*
Row 2 {WS}: *P*
Row 3 {RS}: K2 *YO, SK2PO, YO, K3* end with a K2
Row 4 {WS}: *P*
Row 5 {RS}: K1, K2TOG *YO, K1, YO, SKP, K1, K2TOG* YO, K1, YO, SKP, K1
Row 6 {WS}: *P*
Row 7 {RS}: K2TOG *YO, K3, YO, SK2PO* YO, K3, YO, SKP
Row 8 {WS}: *P*
Repeat rows 1-8 until desired length.

Tip:

It curls a little bit on the edges, but not much. I think it would help to have a border around it to give it a little more structure.

I would definitely block this stitch to bring out the diamonds and lace.

I can see this stitch used in a pretty summer top or a triangle shawl.
