Arrowhead Lace Knitting Stitch Pattern

Welcome to Day 14 of the 21 Days of Lace Knit Stitches Series!

Learn how to knit this lace knit stitch in the video tutorial below. I learned a couple of new techniques in today’s stitch.

We’ll be using a couple of different types of increases and decreases. This one will keep you on your toes. :)

Materials:

Size US 13 {9mm} Knitting Needles
Yarn: Lana Grande by Cascade Yarns

CO in multiples of 9+1 STS

Row 1{RS}: K3 *K2TOG, OO, SKP, K5* last 7 STS K2TOG, OO, SKP, K3
Row 2{WS}: K1, P3 *KP, P3, K1, P3* last 6 STS KP, P3, K1
Row 3{RS}: K2 *K2TOG, YO, K2, YO, SKP, K3* last 8 STS K2TOG, YO, K2, YO, SKP, K2
Row 4{WS}: *K1, P8* K1
Row 5{RS}: K1 *K2TOG, YO, K4, YO, SKP, K1*
Row 6{WS}: *K1, P8* K1 {SAME AS 4}
Row 7{RS}: K2TOG *OO, K3TOG, OO, K3TOG TBL, OO, SK2PO* last 8 STS OO, K3TOG, OO, K3TOG TBL, OO, SKP
Row 8{WS}: K1 *KP, K1*
Repeat rows 1-8 until desired length.

Tip:

It curls a little bit on the edges, but not much. I think it would help to have a border around it to give it more structure.

Increase and decrease on the same row, so the stitch count is the same on all rows.

I would definitely block this stitch to bring out the diamonds and lace.

I can see this stitch used in an over-sized wrap or lacy poncho.

Abbreviations:

* – * – repeat pattern
OO – double yarn over / yarn over twice
CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}
K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
K2TOG – knit 2 stitches together
K3TOG – knit 3 stitches together
K3TOG TBL – knit 3 stitches together through the back loop
P – purl stitches {P2 means to purl 2 stitches}
RS – right side
SKP – slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit the next stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch
SK2PO – slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit the next 2 stitches together, pass the slipped stitch over the knit stitches
STS – stitches
WS – wrong side
YO – yarn over
