Welcome to Day 4 of the 21 Days of Beginner Knit Stitches Series:
Dotted Grid Knit Stitch

Video:

Music by Ben Sound

Materials:

Needles: US 11 {8mm}
Yarn: A.S.A.P. by Madeline Tosh

Pattern, Knit Flat:

CO in multiples of 8
This is not a reversible stitch, see the photos below
Row 2 = Right side/Front

For my swatch I CO 24 STS
Row 0: *P1, K1* set-up row

Row 1: *K*
Row 2: *P7, K1*
Row 3: *K* {repeat rows 2-3, 2 more times}
Row 4: *P7, K1*
Row 5: *K*
Row 6: *P7, K1*
Row 7: *K*
Row 8: *P1, K1*
Repeat rows 1-8 until desired length.

If you’re not adding a border, to BO I recommend ending on a row 7 and BO in the row 8 pattern.

As you can see in the Back photo below the edges curl, so a border is necessary for this stitch.

My thoughts:

I think this stitch would make a nice blanket with a seed stitch border.

The yarn I’m using is A.S.A.P. by Madeline Tosh.

It’s a super bulky yarn and they recommend using size 13-17 needles, I used size 11.

It’s 100% Merino wool, super soft and fluffy. This is a beautiful, high quality yarn that’s hand-dyed giving it a unique color variation that gives depth to your project. I love this yarn, it’s one of my favorites :)

You can see a finished project here in my Super Simple Slouchy Hat Knitting Pattern.
