Materials:

Needles: US 11 {8mm}
Yarn: Rowan Big Wool


Pattern, Knit Flat:

CO in multiples of 10
This is not a reversible stitch, see the photos below
Row 2 = Right side/Front

For my swatch I CO 20 STS

Row 1: *P1, K1*
Row 2: *P1, K1* {k the k’s, p the p’s}
Row 3: *P1, K1* {same as row 1} {k the k’s, p the p’s}
Row 4: *P3 [K1, P1 x3] P1*
Row 5: *K2 [P1, K1 X3] K2* {k the k’s, p the p’s}
Row 6: *P3 [K1, P1 x3] P1* {same as row 4} {k the k’s, p the p’s}
Row 7: *K4, P1, K5*
Row 8: *P5, K1, P4* {k the k’s, p the p’s}
Row 9: *K4, P1, K5* {same as row 7} {k the k’s, p the p’s}


My thoughts:

This stitch is different than the others in that it’s not one that you repeat to make a blanket, but this is a stitch that you can use as a beginning border for a hat, blanket, or other project. I really like the simplicity of this border, I hope you can use it on your future project :)

I created this using reverse stockinette as the front, but you can use the back as the front if you’re knitting in stockinette stitch.


Abbreviations:

* – * – repeat pattern
BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}
K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
P – purl stitches {P2 means to purl 2 stitches}
STS – stitches
