Sizes

Calf Size : # of CO STS
XS 6-8” (15-20cm) : CO 16 STS
S 8-10” (20-25cm) : CO 20 STS
M 10-12” (25-30cm) : CO 24 STS
L 12-15” (30-35cm) : CO 28 STS
XL 15-16” (35-40cm) : CO 32 STS

Example: For a 13″ calf you’ll want to cast-on 28 stitches using super bulky yarn. Easily customize these leg warmers to fit any size!

Height = # of Rows to Knit:
29 rows = 08” (20cm)
36 rows = 10” (25cm)
43 rows = 12” (30cm)
50 rows = 14” (35cm)
62 rows = 18” (40cm)

What length should leg warmers be? Well… that depends. lol. If you’re 5’4″, a 12″ leg warmer might work for you. I think 14″ is a pretty safe length for a gift. At 5’9, I like mine about 16″, so there’s lots of slouch. For some reason, slouchy means cozy, so they slouchier the cozier. lol.

Notes

  • Not reversible.
  • Knit bottom up, however you can wear them either way.
  • Knit using the rib & stockinette stitch.
  • I knit mine using HiyaHiya interchangeable needles with 3 1/2” (9cm) tips.
  • When knitting in the round you’re always knitting the right side of your work.
  • CO loosely, making sure your stitches slide easily. Too tight of a stitch will make these difficult to knit in the round. The first couple of rounds will be a little tight, but it gets easier as you go.
  • The XS, S and M need to be knitted in the round using the magic loop method, with 24″ (61cm), or larger, cables or DPNs.
  • The L and XL can be knitted in the round with 16″ (40cm) cables.
