Needle Size: US 11 (8mm) Circular Needles with a 16” (40cm) Cable, or DPN’s

Gauge

14 STS & 15 rounds per 4” (10cm) square, knit in the pattern below

Notes

Not reversible.
Knit bottom up, however you can wear them either way.
Knit using the rib & cable knit stitches.
Knit in the round with a circular needle.
When knitting in the round you’re always knitting the right side of your work.
I knit mine using HiyaHiya interchangeable needles with 3 1/2” (9cm) tips.
CO loosely, making sure your stitches slide easily. Too tight of a stitch will make these difficult to knit in the round. The first couple of rounds will be a little tight, but it gets easier as you go.

Knitting Abbreviations

*– * – repeat between * to end of round
BO – bind-off in pattern
C4F – cable4front – Transfer 2 stitches to a cable needle and hold it in the front of your work, knit the next 2 stitches and then knit the 2 stitches off the cable needle
CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
K – knit stitches (K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
P – purl stitches (P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
PM – place marker
STS – stitches

CO 40 STS, PM, join in the round

Rounds 1-5: *K3, P2*
Rounds 6-7: *K4, P1*
Rounds 8: *C4F, P1*

Rounds 9-14: *K4, P1*
Rounds 15: *C4F, P1*
Repeat rounds 9-15, 4 more times.

Round 44: *K4, P1*
Rounds 45-48: *K3, P2*
Round 49: BO in the *K3, P2* pattern

End:
Weave in the ends.
No blocking necessary.
Knit the second the same as the first.
