Cast-on in any number of stitches.
Cast-on more stitches to make it wider and fewer to make it narrower.
Knitting Abbreviations
*– * – repeat between * to end of round
BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
K – knit stitches (K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
K1TBL – knit 1 stitch through the back loop
P – purl stitches (P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
S1PW – slip one stitch purl-wise
STS – stitches
WYIF – with yarn in front

CO 19 STS
Knit every row for 85″ or until desired length.
BO loosely in all knit stitches
Weave in the ends.
Block, if desired.
Advanced Beginner Pattern, Knit Flat
This version gives you a nice clean edge
CO 19 STS
Row 1 (set-up): WYIF S1PW, K, WYIF S1PW
Row 2: K1TBL, K, WYIF S1PW
Repeat row 2 for 85″ or until desired length.
Weave in the ends.
Block, if desired.
