How to Knit a Double Brim on Your Leg Warmers & Gloves

*Yes, this is a video I did for leg warmers, but it’s the same technique I used for these matching gloves, plus the video shows you how to add elastic, if you’d like to. :)

Pattern, Knit Flat {Back & Forth}:

CO the desired number of STS from the “Size” section above.

Row 1 {WS}: *P*

Row 2 {RS}: *K*

Repeat rows 1-2 until desired brim length, {My brim is 2″, so I knit for 4″}

Thumb Gusset {Clean Edge, optional}:

Row 2 {RS}: K1TBL *K* K1TBL

Repeat rows 1-2 until desired length, {My gusset measures 3″, excluding the wrist}

Row 1 {WS}: *P*

Row 2 {RS}: *K*

Repeat rows 1-2 until desired brim length, {My brim is 1″, so I knit for 2″}

BO in all knit stitches.

Sew the side edges together, at the “Wrist Double Brim” & “Finger Double Brim.”

Leave the “Thumb Gusset” open.

Double Brims:

Turn the glove inside out. Fold the CO edge over to meet the “Thumb Gusset” and then sew it to the inside, creating a double brim. Repeat for the bottom brim. {Click here to watch the video.}

Weave in the ends.

Turn right-side out.

No blocking necessary.
