Using US 10.5 {6.5mm} circular needles with a 16” {40cm} cable.
CO 64 STS, PM, join in the round.
Rounds 1-11: *K1, P1*
Round 12 & 13: *K1, P1, K1, P5*
Round 14 & 15: *K1, P1, K5, P1*

Repeat rounds 12-23, 2 more times
Note {Optional}:
When the stitches get too tight switch to DPNs or a longer cable and knit using the magic loop method.
Decrease for the crown:
Round 48: *K1, P1, K1, P3, P2TOG, PM* {-8 STS 56 STS remaining}
Round 49: *K1, P1, K1, P2, P2TOG, SM* {-8 STS 48 STS remaining}
Round 50: *K1, P1, K1, K2TOG, P1, SM* {-8 STS 40 STS remaining}
Round 51: *K1, P1, K2TOG, P1, SM* {-8 STS 32 STS remaining}
Round 52: *K1, P1, K2TOG, SM* {-8 STS 24 STS remaining}
Round 53: *K2TOG, K1, SM* {-8 STS 16 STS remaining}
Round 54: *K2TOG, remove stitch marker* {-8 STS 8 STS remaining}
End:
Without binding-off, cut the yarn leaving a 10” {25cm} tail, pull it through the remaining STS, push through the top hole to the inside and then weave in the ends.
Block:
To block this hat I use a saucer. Like a teacup and saucer. ;) I put it inside the hat, so the bottom “swirl” is in the center of the saucer and the saucer is bulging outward, spritz it with some water, pat dry with a clean towel and let it dry overnight.
