This is a tad more challenging than a beginner dishcloth knitting pattern, but not quite advanced. One row in each repeat is a little tricky, but there’s an tutorial video to show you how it’s done. :)

  • Yarn Weight: Worsted Cotton
  • Yardage: 55 – 65 yards {50 – 60 meters}
  • Suggested Yarn: Knit Picks Dishie
  • Needle Size: US 6 {4mm} Knitting Needles

  • Measurements: 8″ x 7 1/2″ {20cm x 19cm}
  • Gauge: 23 STS & 26 rows per 4” {10cm} square {knit flat in the pattern below}

Notes:

  • Not reversible.
  • The CO edge is the width.
  • Knit using the Cable Knit Stitch.

  • Row 08 {RS}: K3 *K2, P1* K2, K3
  • Row 09 {WS}: K3 *P2, K1* P2, K3
  • Row 10 {RS}: K3 *RT, P1* RT, K3

  • Repeat rows 7-10, 10 more times, for a total of 11 cables

  • To End:
  • Row 47 {WS}: K3 *P2, K1* P2, K3
  • Row 48 {RS}: K3 *K2, P1* K2, K3
  • Row 49-51: *K*
  • Row 52 {RS}: BO in all knit stitches

  • Weave in the ends.
  • Blocking is optional, but it helps square it up and even out the stitches

Abbreviations:

    • * – * – repeat between * to end of round
    • BO – bind-off in pattern
    • CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}
    • K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
    • P – purl stitches {P2 means to purl 2 stitches}
    • RS – right side
    • RT – Right Twist – K2TOG, without dropping STS from left needle, knit into the first stitch, slip both sts to the right needle together.
    • STS – stitches
    • WS – wrong side
