Welcome to Day 2 of the 21 Days of Lace Knit Stitches Series! Learn how to knit this easy lace knit stitch in the video tutorial below. One of the great things about this stitch is that you only need to know 3 knitting abbreviations to create it!

Today’s stitch is a simple ridge stitch on a garter stitch background. It’s made with the garter stitch, and if you’ve ever knit a garter stitch you know it’s going to be super squishy! Plus, it’s easy to memorize, making it a great travel project too!

Materials:

Size US 13 {9mm} Knitting Needles

Tip:

Watch & learn the Staggering Eyelet Knit Stitch on a stockinette background.

This stitch would work great for designing a lacy scarf, easy triangle shawl or a dishcloth.

Using the Ridge Garter Lace Knit Stitch:

This isn’t a reversible stitch, but it looks nice on both sides.

Increase and decrease on the same row, so the stitch count is the same on all rows.

It lays nice and flat when you’re finished, so you don’t have to worry about curling.

I used some cotton yarn and added a couple of garter stitches to each side to make the scrubbie below:

small knitted dishcloth with soap, scissors and knitting needles

Pattern for the Scrubbie:

I used Simply Cotton Organic Worsted Yarn by Knit Picks {Lily Sugar’n Cream, is similar in thickness}
