Needles: US 9 {5.5mm}
Yarn: Cascade Yarns Pacific Chunky, Color 61

Pattern, Knit Flat:

CO in multiples of 8+5
This is not a reversible stitch, see the photos below
Row 1 = Right side/Front

For my swatch I CO 29 STS

Row 1: K5 *P3, K5*
Row 2: P5 *K3, P5* {k the k’s and p the p’s}
Row 3: K5 *P3, K5* {k the k’s and p the p’s}
Row 4: P5 *K3, P5* {k the k’s and p the p’s}
Row 5: K1 *P3, K5* P3, K1
Row 6: P1 *K3, P5* K3, P1 {k the k’s and p the p’s}
Row 7: K1 *P3, K5* P3, K1 {k the k’s and p the p’s}
Row 8: P1 *K3, P5* K3, P1 {k the k’s and p the p’s}
Repeat rows 1-8 until desired length.

If you’re not adding a border, to BO I recommend ending on a row 7 and BO in the row 8 pattern.

Abbreviations:

* – * – repeat pattern
BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}
K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}
