8 STS & 13 rounds per 2″ (10cm) square, knit in the pattern below

Measurements, Finished: 3 1/4″ width x 11″ length (8cm x 28cm)

Notes

Not reversible.
Knit from cuff to fingertip.
Knit using the stockinette stitch.
Knit in the round using the magic loop method.
When knitting in the round you’re always knitting the right side of your work.

Knitting Abbreviations

*– * – repeat between * to end of round
BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
INC1 – make 1 stitch (I used a backwards loop)
K – knit stitches (K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
P – purl stitches (P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
PM – place stitch marker
SM – slip stitch marker
STS – stitches

Pattern Instructions, Right Hand

CO 26 STS, split 13 STS onto each needle, join in the round.

Round 1-7: *K1, P1*

Round 8-25: *K*

Note: Between the bracket is the thumb gusset

Round 26: K1, PM, [INC1, K1, INC1], PM, *K*

Round 27: K1, SM, [INC1, K3, INC1], SM, *K*

Round 28: K1, SM, [INC1, *K*, INC1], SM, *K*

Repeat Round 28 until you have 15 STS for the thumb gusset

Round 34: *K* slip stitch markers as you come to them

Round 35: K1, put the thumb gusset STS on a scrap piece of yarn, *K*

Round 36-49: *K*

Round 50: BO the first 13 STS in the K1, P1 pattern, *K* (make sure you only have 13 STS remaining)

Round 51: Increase 13 STS, using a backwards loop, split 13 STS onto each needle,  join in the round, *K*

Round 52-56: *K*

Round 57:  *K2TOG, K11*

Round 58-60: *K*

Round 61:  *K2TOG, K10*

Round 62-64: *K*

Round 65:  *K2TOG, K9*

Round 66-68: *K*

Round 69: *K2TOG, K7, K2TOG*

Round 70: BO

Thumb Gusset (same for right and left hand):

Put the thumb stitches on your needles

Split 7 & 8 STS onto each needle, join in the round.

Knit 11 rounds using the magic loop method.

Round 12: K2TOG, K3, K2TOG, K2TOG, K4, K2TOG

Round 13: K2TOG, K1, K2TOG, K2TOG, K2TOG, K2TOG

Cinch together, push the thread to the inside and weave in.

There’s a bit of a gap at the top of the gusset where it meets the glove, go ahead and weave that together when you weave in the beginning thumb yarn.

Pattern Instructions, Left Hand

If using the long tail CO method, you’ll need a 40” tail

CO 26 STS, split 13 STS onto each needle, join in the round.

Round 1-7: *K1, P1*

Round 8-25: *K*

Note: Between the bracket is the thumb gusset

Round 26: K11, PM, [INC1, K1, INC1], PM, K1, *K*

Round 27: K11, SM, [INC1, K3, INC1], SM, K1, *K*

Round 28: K11, SM, [INC1, *K*, INC1], SM, K1, *K*

Repeat Round 28 until you have 15 STS for the thumb gusset

Round 34: *K* slip stitch markers as you come to them

Round 35: K11, put the thumb gusset STS on a scrap piece of yarn, *K*

Round 36-49: *K*
