Notes

Reversible.
CO edge is the height.
Knit using the seed stitch.
This cowl is knit flat, when you’re finished knitting you’ll sew the CO & BO edges together making it a cowl.

Knitting Abbreviations

*– * – repeat between * to end of round
BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
K – knit stitches (K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
K1TBL – knit 1 stitch through the back loop
P – purl stitches (P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
S1PW – slip one stitch purl-wise
STS – stitches
WYIF – with yarn in front

Beginner Pattern Instructions

Knit Flat (Back & Forth):

CO 25 STS (or any odd number of STS)

All rows: *K1, P1* (Seed Stitch, knit the purl stitches and purl the knit stitches)

Work in Seed Stitch for 1 full skein of yarn.

End:

Leave enough yarn to bind off and sew seam.

BO in pattern.

Sew CO & BO edges together.

Weave in the ends.

Block, if desired.

Advanced Beginner Pattern

Knit Flat (Back & Forth) with a clean edge:

CO 25 STS

Row 1: WYIF S1PW, *K1, P1* K1, WYIF S1PW

All other rows: K1TBL, *K1, P1* K1, WYIF S1PW

End:

Knit until you’ve used up almost 1 skein of yarn, or desired length.

Leave enough yarn to bind off and sew seam.

BO in pattern.

Sew CO & BO edges together.

Weave in the ends.

Block, if desired.
