Gauge

9.5 STS & 15 rounds per 4” (10cm) square, knit in the pattern below

Measurements: 6″ x 14″ (15cm x 35cm)

Notes

  • Not reversible.
  • Knit bottom up, however you can wear them either way.
  • Knit using 2 contrasting colors of yarn.
  • Knit using the rib & stockinette stitch.
  • I knit mine using HiyaHiya interchangeable needles with 3 1/2” (9cm) tips.
  • When knitting in the round you’re always knitting the right side of your work.
  • CO loosely, making sure your stitches slide easily. Too tight of a stitch will make these difficult to knit in the round. The first couple of rounds will be a little tight, but it gets easier as you go.

Knitting Abbreviations

*– * – repeat between * to end of round
BO – bind-off in pattern
CO – cast-on (long-tail cast-on method)
INC1 – make 1 stitch (I use a backwards loop)
K – knit stitches (K1 means to knit 1 stitch)
P – purl stitches (P2 means to purl 2 stitches)
PM – place marker
STS – stitches

Knitting Pattern Instructions

Using US 11 (8mm) Circular Needles with a 16” (40cm) Cable

CO 28 stitches, PM, join in the round.
Rounds 1-5: *K2, P2*
Rounds 6-44: *K*
Switch to the 24″+ (61cm) cable, which you’ll use for the remainder of the pattern & knit in the magic loop method.
Split 14 STS per needle, PM, join in the round.
Round 45: BO 13 STS, knit 14 STS (15 STS remaining)
Round 46: INC5 STS, knit 15 STS (20 STS)
Rounds 47-51: *K*
Rounds 52-55: *K2, P2*
Round 56: BO in the K2, P2 pattern.

End:
Weave in the ends.
No blocking necessary.
Knit the second the same as the first.
