This is a tad more challenging than a beginner dishcloth knitting pattern, but not quite advanced. One row in each repeat is a little tricky, but there’s a video to show you exactly how it’s done. :)

Yarn Weight: Worsted Cotton

Yardage: 60 – 70 yards {55 – 64 meters}

Needle Size: US 6 {4mm} Knitting Needles



Measurements: 7″ x 7″ {18cm x 18cm}

Gauge: 21 STS & 28 rows per 4” {10cm} square {knit flat in the pattern below}

Not reversible.

The CO edge is the width.

Knit using the Fan and Feather Knit Stitch.




Pattern, Knit Flat {Back & Forth}


Row 1 {RS}: *K*

Row 2 {WS}: *P*

Row 3 {RS}: *{K2TOG x3}, {YO, K1 x6}, {K2TOG x3}*

Row 4 {WS}: *K*

Repeat Rows 1-4, 9 more times for a total of 10

Row 41 {RS}: *K*

Row 42 {WS}: *P*

Row 43 {RS}: BO in all Purl STS

Weave in the ends.

Blocking is optional, but it helps square it up and even out the stitches



* – * – repeat between * to end of round

BO – bind-off in pattern

CO – cast-on {long-tail cast-on method}

K – knit stitches {K1 means to knit 1 stitch}

K2TOG – knit 2 stitches together

P – purl stitches {P2 means to purl 2 stitches}

RS – right side

STS – stitches

WS – wrong side

WYIF – with yarn in front

YO – yarn over
