Techniques

Here are some of the knitting skills you need to know before getting started:

Knit in the Round
Knit & Purl Stitches

Yarn & Substitutions

Yarn Weight: Bulky
Yardage: 120- 360 yards (110 – 329 meters)
Suggested Yarn: Yarn: Berroco Ultra Alpaca Chunky, Winter White

How many skeins of yarn do you need for leg warmers? Well, that depends on the size. For a medium, which fits most adults, I recommend 2, one for each leg warmer. That way you know you won’t run out of yarn, aka playing yarn chicken.

I like having a “happy plate” meaning, no left-over yarn, so I’ll just knit my leg warmers until the yarn is all gone. It’s a win-win, no left-over yarn and I’ll have slouchy leg warmers to wear when I’m done.

If you’re looking for a pattern with more texture, the broken rib stitch pattern is beautiful too!
