Stretchy, one size fits most {21-23″ head circumference}

Knit-in-the-round, no instructions to knit flat

Knit & purl stitches

Knit 2 together

:) Materials Needed:

5 Stitch markers

Approximately 98 yards of a super bulky yarn

I used less that 4 skeins of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick {2 skeins of each color}
{I knit The Best Cowl and had enough left-over to make this hat}

Size 19 {15mm} needles with 40” {100cm} circular cable

Darning needle or tool of choice to weave in ends

In this video I talk about the tools I use and why I’m using them :)

This is a super quick video showing you how I cast-on with 2 strands of yarn using the long-tail cast-on method.

Using 2 skeins of one color {I used blossom}

CO 32 STS, PM, join in the round.

In this video I reveal my trick to knitting a hat with a 40″ cable ;)

It’s easier than using the magic-loop-method!

Rounds 1-3: *K1, P1*

In this video I knit 1 row of all knit stitches before switches colors.

{Plus, there’s some video of me knitting sped up. I don’t know why, but I love watching it!}

Round 4: *K*

Using 2 skeins of different color {I used blossom & fisherman}

Rounds 5-10: *K*

In this video I show you how I switch to using 2 different colors of yarn.

In this video I show you how I switch back to using 2 strands of the same color.

Using 2 skeins one color {I used fisherman}

Rounds 11-16: *K*

In this video, I show you how I start decreasing the stitches.

Round 17: *K6, K2TOG, PM*

Round 18: *K5, K2TOG, SM*

Round 19: *K4, K2TOG, SM*

Round 20: *K3, K2TOG, SM*

I’m running out of stitches, so in this video I change my technique to knitting in the magic-loop method.

Round 21: *K2, K2TOG, SM*

Round 22: *K1, K2TOG, SM*

In this video I cut my tails, pull them through the remaining stitches and cinch tight :)

You should have 8 STS remaining. Do not bind-off.

Leave a long tail, about 10″, and pull it through the remaining STS remove markers.

Pull tight and push through the top hole to the inside and weave in the ends.

Blocking… you’re almost there!

It’s a little weird, but I use a saucer.

Like a teacup and saucer ;)

I put it inside the hat, so the bottom “swirl” is in the center of the saucer and the saucer is bulging outward.

I get a clean washcloth soaking wet and press it on the “swirl” until it’s fairly damp and let it dry overnight.

This hat shaped perfectly the first time!
